  • Identify and Quantify (Oct 2008)

Measurement is no longer limited to just the vapor pressure, the identity of the vapor can also be found by measuring its thermal properties.

Combining the innovative dew point probe with other established technologies has enabled us to develop a new type of probe. This has the capability of monitoring the mass with a Nanobalance and heat transfer with a Calorimeter, during thin film deposition or vapor adsorption/desorption.

The technology is not just limited to vapor identification and quantification. Since temperature and vapor pressure (humidity) can be precisely controlled by using two devices with suitable gas mixing (for which we have also developed a novel and low cost method) the measurements of many interesting phenomena are possible. These range from Dynamic Vapor Sorption on pharmaceutical excipients to more fundamental monolayer adsorption studies.

We are NOT system builders who plug together other third party devices, these are constructed entirely to our own designs (with the exception of the piezoelectric crystal). This means we believe we cannot be beaten on price.

    Application notes coming soon.

About fVI

  • Here at fVI we have over 20 years combined experience in research surface science, instrumentation design, commercial software and electronic engineering.

These skills have been combined in the design of the Universal Dewpoint Probe based on piezoelectric crystal technology. We therefore have all the relevant expertise in quartz crystals and their use in surface science applications and are currently developing instrumentation for the vapour sorption analysis market. Please contact us if you have a need for any such instrumentation.
